The Downtown CRA Extension Study Committee was established for the purpose of discussing and exploring options for the potential extension of the Downtown Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) beyond the year 2016. The Committee shall make a recommendation as to whether the Downtown CRA should continue in existence past the year 2016 and if so in what form and under what conditions such continuation should occur. The Committee shall not be limited as to the range of options to be considered. The Committee may consider changes to the current status quo including, but not limited to, changes in the composition of the Community Redevelopment Agency; changes to the Downtown Community Redevelopment Area boundaries; changes in the percentage of tax increment funds collected from the City and the County; and changes to the Community Redevelopment Plan controlling the expenditure of tax increment funds collected within the Downtown Community Redevelopment Area. The Committee may also consider termination of the Downtown Community Redevelopment Area as presently scheduled. The Committee consists of ten members who have been appointed by the City Commission. Meetings will be held as needed and at such dates and times as it may be determined by the Committee members. The Committee is assisted and supported by Neighborhood and Development Services.
