Domestic Partnership Registry
On October 15, 2012, the City Commission of the City of Sarasota adopted Ordinance #12-5019 establishing a Domestic Partnership Registry.
What is a Domestic Partnership?
A Domestic Partnership refers to two individuals who maintain important personal, emotional, and economic relationships. Individuals in these partnerships are unmarried and may share committed family relationships, but may also be denied certain rights if their partnership is not recognized.

How to Register…
Application for the Domestic Partnership Registry can be made through the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk, Room 110, City Hall, 1565 First Street, Sarasota, Florida.
Domestic Partnerships are issued:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
Registration takes approximately 20 minutes per partnership. Applicants are encouraged to make an appointment in advance to avoid wait times by calling (941) 954-4160.
The cost of registration is $30 to be paid in cash or check made payable to the City of Sarasota.
Upon registering, partners will receive a Certificate of Domestic Partnership as well as registration cards with identifying information which can be easily stored in wallets for ease of access and use.
The proper filing paperwork is available when you visit our office and can also be obtained by clicking on the below links. Please note that if paperwork is completed in advance, the paperwork must not be signed until both partners are in the presence of a Notary Public. If partners choose to complete the filing paperwork at City Hall, the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk will ensure that a Notary Public is available to provide validation services. Be sure and bring picture identification with you.
