Newtown Citizen Historic Taskforce

The formation of the Newtown Citizen Historic Taskforce was approved by City Commission on April 6, 2015, to assist the selected consultant in the work necessary to establish the Newtown Conservation Historic District. The Newtown Citizen Historic Taskforce will work with the consultant on the first phase of the project, which should be completed by February 1, 2016.
Taskforce membership- Qualifications and Other Requirements:
a) The taskforce shall consist of seven members.
b) The City Commission makes appointments from submitted applications.
c) The selected individual(s) must be knowledgeable about the various perspectives on Newtown’s culture, history, and heritage.
d) The selected individual(s) understands the scope of the Newtown Conservation Historic District project and agreed to cooperate and assist the selected consultant in the various tasks necessary to complete this project.
e) The taskforce meets as needed and at such dates and times as determined by the selected consultant and the taskforce member.
f) Presentation of the Final Report of Newtown Conservation Historic District project will be made with the selected consultant to the Newtown community, the Historic Perseveration Board and the City Commission.
