Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency
Newtown Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Plan
In 2008, the Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) was established for the purpose of implementing redevelopment activities that include eliminating “blight and slum” conditions, increasing the tax base, and encouraging private and public investments. The Newtown CRA Plan has eight focus strategies – economic development, housing, land use, transportation, community health safety and welfare, infrastructure, urban design/parks and administration.
There are three overlay districts: Enterprise Zone, Newtown CRA, and HUB Zone which are designed to provide incentives to further encourage revitalization and redevelopment in the Newtown-North Sarasota community.
The Newtown Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Advisory Board consists of nine members appointed by the City Commission.
